Chesapeake Soda Clean announced today that it has been appointed the first national distributor for Bad Dust Containment Systems. A modular technology, Bad Dust Containment curtains provide a clean, user-friendly and environmentally-sound method that affords a weather-proof controlled environment for the repair and maintenance of boat bottoms and containment of debris. The system works equally well for power and sailing yachts from 20′ to 200’.
Bad Dust containment involves a positive pressurized curtain system composed of panels that attach together for a wide variety of projects of any size and shape. The curtains fasten to the hardware or stanchions on the deck, starting at the bow and working back to the stern, suspending the curtains along topsides to ensure the sealing flap is positioned just above the waterline.
The curtains drape down alongside the boat to the ground and are secured under jack stands. A sealing flap is then taped to the boat bottom where the waterline meets the topside, providing an air-tight seal around the vessel and containing the entire job. The system is pressurized using a variable-speed electric blower as vented air is de-contaminated through particle filters before exiting the curtains.
Chesapeake Soda Clean demonstrates the product at its new and expanded shop in Millersville, Maryland. “When we moved into our new facility in November 2009, we recognized the importance of providing hands-on training for the emerging technologies in soda blasting,” says Stacey Stone, CSC’s owner and general contractor. “We remain the only hands-on training facility of our kind in the U.S. As we look at new supporting products available to the refinement of soda blasting as a preferred method of bottom stripping, the ability to educate both contractors and owners is critical.” For the marine marketplace, CSC has invested in a 28’ Bertram fly bridge for its demonstrations.
Bad Dust Containment Systems is the newest product CSC distributes. Its complete eco-market product portfolio also includes The Soda Works, Natrium Products, Hold Tight Solutions, Marco USA and New Age Media. In addition to yachting services, Chesapeake Soda Clean also offers automotive, residential and commercial products and training aids for new soda blast contractors, on-site training for customers and fee-based training for all others.
Ever attentive to the availability of eco-product lines, at its Maryland location CSC also warehouses an enhanced selection of eco-friendly abrasive equipment and media to replace environmentally unsound silica and coal slag media.
