Chesapeake Soda Clean Acquires Potomac Soda Stripping
Regional Expansion & Rapid Growth Prompts New Baking Soda Blasting Hires
August 7, 2006, Annapolis, Maryland: Chesapeake Soda Clean (CSC) announced today that it has acquired the assets of Potomac Soda Stripping of La Plata, Maryland. In addition to serving as eastern regional sales director for one of its primary OEMs—The Soda Works of Walla, Walla, Washington—this acquisition expands CSC’s sales and service area. Further, due to an increasingly strong order book in soda blasting equipment and media sales and projects, CSC has hired two new employees—Patrick Houchins and Mike Morgan—to handle its increase in business and presence.
“In the Chesapeake Bay region, as throughout the United States, there is a growing demand for an environmentally safe coatings removal technology,” says Stacey Stone, Chesapeake Soda Clean’s owner and general contractor. “In only the short year since I took on the responsibility for handling soda blasting equipment and selling the actual soda itself, my business has more than doubled. It’s heartening to know that in this day and age, a solution coming from a little industry like pressure cleaning can still make waves,” he continues.
Simply, soda blasting is the latest technology to safely strip paint and clean most any surface. The soda blasting machine uses compressed air to deliver bicarbonate of soda-based media (baking soda) onto the surface to be cleaned. Similar in concept to sand blasting, soda blasting is much kinder and gentler to the underlying surface and the environment. The process is gentle enough to remove the coating without harming the substrate. Virtually any coating can be removed from most any surface. Soda blast media is FDA approved, non-toxic, and contains no free silica; it is non-sparking, non-flammable, non-hazardous, and environmentally safe.
“With the acquisition of Potomac Soda Stripping, we’re able to expand our ability to meet demand. As our project list for everything from auto restoration, marine use, graffiti removal, applications within the food processing industry and all kinds of other requests grows, I look forward to adding additional personnel and to working with selling equipment to and training new contractors who come on board,” says Stone.
Chesapeake Soda Clean is a full service soda blasting equipment vendor, media supplier and general contractor, providing mobile paint stripping, surface cleaning, sales, distribution, training, support and customer service for The Soda Works soda blast equipment and Natrium Products baking soda blast media.
