PRO BLAST
A recent question from a Pro Blast user:
“I'm in the middle of stripping a 65 GTO. I'm about 19 bags into it and still have the hood, two fenders, two wheel wells and the trunk left. Looking at about 25 bags for the whole project. Seems high to me. Would you say that’s to much soda for a GTO”?
My answer:
“You bet that’s too much! Way too much!!!
Upon further discussion, it was determined that his project may have had a tough coating and the operator’s air pressure was way too low (60 psi), but still… He admitted to me that his normal flow rate with baking soda was about 100 lbs. per hour, which is still way too high. It’s tough to make a profit when your soda usage is so high!
Bottom line, sand blast pots just don’t make good soda blast pots. You can put soda in any sand blast pot, provided you have the proper size air drying system, but you can’t put sand in a real soda blast pot.
